Our extensive menu upholds a true Mexican cuisine stemming from all areas of the country. Our dishes are comprised of fresh ingredients, and many components such as our tortillas and sauces are made in-house.
The owner, Marcelo Ocampo, a North Carolina resident for more than 20 years, has been serving the Hispanic community as a business owner since 1997. El Coyote Bar and Grill is Marcelo’s first, but not his last, restaurant.
Mr. Ocampo has had a passion for cooking since he was a small boy back home in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. Watching his mother cook in their humble kitchen later led him to pursue a career in the food and dining industry that has spanned over 30 years.
As a Durham resident and business owner, Marcelo has carefully observed the state of Mexican dining in the area and the lack of an authentic experience. By opening El Coyote Bar and Grill, Marcelo aims to fill this gap and share his history and experience with the Durham community through a careful selection of traditional dishes.
The menu at El Coyote Bar and Grill features dishes that have Marcelo’s unique touch. Each dish has been carefully crafted to uphold multiple facets of Mexican cuisine. We feature dishes from the coast such as the Sopa de Mariscos, traditional dishes such as Tamales, and dishes such as Mole Poblano from the region of Puebla.
